Welcome to My Practice
People come to psychotherapy for various reasons. You may be struggling with feelings that are hard to talk about like sadness, tenseness, shame, anger, guilt, dread, or emptiness. You may feel lost or stuck due to unresolved loss, trauma, or uncontrollable impulses. You may find it difficult to stay focused, organized, or motivated. Perhaps you crave more passion and vital risk-taking in your life. Psychotherapy can improve all of these areas while also reducing anxiety and depression.
Credo
Psychotherapy at its best goes beyond symptom relief, leading to a greater sense of ease within oneself, an enhanced sense of agency in one’s life, more intimate and authentic relating, and personal and professional growth. In our work together, we’ll explore the deeper patterns and emotions that shape how you think, feel, and relate to yourself and others—sometimes in ways you may not be fully aware of. Through a supportive and collaborative relationship, we will gradually loosen the hold these patterns have on you to make room for meaningful and lasting change.
Psychotherapy is an investment of time, money, and effort, so finding the right therapist, with whom you feel productive work can happen, is crucial. I understand that the search for the right therapist can be daunting. I do my best to support and help you find the right fit, whether it is with me or another therapist.
My Style
My style is warm, nonjudgmental, and direct. I listen carefully, sometimes quietly, and what and how much I say generally follows from having listened with care. I feel strongly about working thoughtfully and sensitively around issues of culture, race, class, gender, and sexuality. I assume as little as possible while also holding the conviction that people forge unique identities out of complex relationships with themselves, their histories, and the worlds that surround them. My hope is that you feel comfortable bringing as much of yourself as possible into our work together. This can take time and is in fact a sign of progress when it begins to happen more in our sessions and in your life outside of them.
